Welcome back Readers,
I have noticed that the older we get the fewer hobbies we have. As we get older, we become more consumed by our duties, leaving us with very little time for activities outside of our societal obligations. For example, we go to work, sleep, go to work, attend university, take care of our families, and then repeat. We don’t leave space for creative endeavors but are rather consumed by our everyday tasks.
Gone are the days when we were part of clubs or community classes that provided a great break from our day-to-day lives. When was the last time that you had fun without expecting a transaction in return? For example, we go to work to earn a paycheck, which helps us to survive in the world. We take care of our families as we are the ones who brought them into the world, and the emotional support granted from them helps us to be better in the long term. We go to university, etc., to further our knowledge and experience in order to secure a better job in the long haul.
It’s essential to acknowledge the value of making time for hobbies and activities that bring us joy without the expectation of anything in return. Engaging in hobbies can provide a much-needed break from the demands of everyday life and contribute to our overall well-being. Whether it’s pursuing a creative passion, joining a club, or simply taking time for leisure activities, carving out space for hobbies can be rejuvenating and fulfilling. In the midst of our responsibilities, it’s important to remember the significance of nurturing our individual interests and hobbies.
Here are some forms of hobbies that you can take up-
Physical hobbies-

This can range from going to the gym and participating in group fitness classes, such as yoga, fishing, sailing, gardening, Pilates, or spin classes, to taking individual sessions with a personal trainer for personalized workouts. Additionally, activities like running, swimming, tennis, horseback riding, or engaging in outdoor pursuits like hiking and rock climbing can provide a great amount of physical activity. For those interested in martial arts, there are various disciplines to explore, including karate, MMA, boxing, martial arts, and Thai Jitsu. There is a diverse range of classes and activities available for individuals seeking a more physically oriented hobby. You can explore options in your local area by using Google to find nearby classes or communities that have open spots for you to join.
Less physical hobbies-

These can range from classes such as cooking, baking, pastry making, sewing, knitting, crocheting, painting, drawing, pottery, sculpture, and various photographic and videographic classes, etc. If you are interested in activities that do not require as much physical effort, you can explore options like calligraphy, candle making, jewelry crafting, or digital art. Check Google for any local classes or workshops in your community, or even look for online courses and tutorials. There are numerous opportunities to enhance your skills and discover new hobbies within this category.
Beauty related hobbies-

These hobbies can include a wide range of options within the realm of hairdressing, such as hair braiding, styling, sew-in techniques, and diverse coloring methods. When it comes to cosmetics, you might delve into makeup artistry, skincare expertise, and other related practices. The area of nails offers various possibilities, including acrylic and gel nail application as well as providing pedicures and manicures. Furthermore, you might explore eyebrow threading, laser treatments, and more. Delving into fashion, you could focus on styling and delve into the psychology of fashion, including analyzing different colorways, understanding trends, and exploring the impact of clothing choices on behavior and perception. Regardless of the specific pursuit, the key is to learn a skill that genuinely captivates your interest, with no intent to monetize it, but simply to dedicate a few hours each week to partake in and derive pleasure from these activities.
Online hobbies-

This can be seen as controversial but please hear me out first. Engaging in these forms of hobbies can have a significant positive impact on individuals. For example, learning how to code not only enhances problem-solving skills but also opens up new career opportunities in the tech industry. Similarly, starting a blog or vlog on topics that you are passionate about can provide a platform for self-expression and connection with like-minded individuals. Additionally, delving into the world of photography and video editing can unleash one’s creativity and offer a means to capture and share memorable moments. Furthermore, engaging in gaming can provide a source of entertainment, creativity, and even social interaction through online multiplayer games. Joining online group forums and communities allows individuals to share knowledge, seek advice, and connect with others who share similar interests. In essence, these hobbies offer a diverse range of opportunities for personal growth and fulfillment.
To summarize today’s blog post, find something that you can do outside of your day-to-day responsibilities by yourself. This could be a hobby, such as painting, gardening, or playing a musical instrument, or it could involve pursuing a new fitness routine or engaging in outdoor activities you’ve been meaning to try. It will help you enjoy your life more and continue to see the beauty of life, rather than only seeing life through the lens of your responsibilities. Embracing such personal endeavours can enhance your overall well-being and bring a sense of fulfilment beyond your professional and personal duties. Be more present in the moment.
