How To Be Consistent With Your Workout Routine

Welcome back Readers,

With the new year at our door steps, and your new years resolutions list and aspirations for the year becoming more and more real. For those who have placed working out on their lists, I’ve got you girl and will help you be consistent with it.

So that at the end of the year you will be a healthier you.

Here are my top 2 tips on how to stay consistent with your workout routine-

1. Change your mindset on working out

Your main objective for working out should be to be a healthier version of yourself. As cringey as that sounds this is what will drive you to wake up and be consistent.

When you hyper fixate on a specific body shape or a singular result to achieve from working out it will make or break your commitment to working out. As you will either give up on working out all together when you do not see the change/result instantly or you will receive your desired result and then you will no longer feel the need to regularly work out.

Your mindset is what will allow you to be consistent with your goal, even when you do slack off you’ll be able to pick it up again with ease.

2. Working out/moving your body should be a lifestyle and not a final destination

Once you turn it into a lifestyle exercising/working out will become the same as showering or eating. For an activity to count as exercise it does not need to be intense or hard core. It can be something as small as going on more walks, joining a club (dance, tennis, ballet, running or boxing) anything as long you are moving your body each week.

When you no longer view working out as a final destination it becomes something that you enjoy doing (even when you don’t feel like it). Seeing the results of moving your body more will become the icing on the cake.

3. Start off with baby steps

When it comes to cementing any goal or habit into your life you must start off with baby steps, small and achievable goals each day/week.

My journey of working out and how I started was that I aimed to work out once a week from now (beginning of the year 2023) to the end of the year consistently. I would have technically worked out 48 times in the year if I stayed on that schedule. If I worked out 48 times in 2023 that is 3 times more than I exercised in 2022 and previous years, which would be a major accomplishment for me.

I would recommend exercising once a week for starters and then once it becomes easier (you get the hang of it) add another day and another and another etc.

4. Do this for yourself and no one else

By doing it for you and only you and no one else working out and exercising will become like therapy and something that genuinely brings you joy and sets you free.

If you start working out for the sake (opinions) of others, you will put too much pressure on yourself and there will be a deadline on when you need to receive your results and when you are no longer consistent you will be harsh and negative on your self. Which will not only affect your self esteem but also your mental health.

Your fitness journey should be a YOUR journey not OTHERS journey.
