FASHION
Welcome back Readers,
Today’s topic is for my girlies looking to build up their shoe collection and they aren’t too sure about what shoes to buy.
I’ve got you Hun, I will make sure to include categories of shoes and their sub-categories. You will get the gist of it once I begin, don’t worry.
When it comes to the colours of shoes you should have when building your wardrobe, I recommend sticking to the basics. By doing so you can get away with not having multiple shoes, especially in the beginning.
1. High heels
This is a no-brainer, every lady needs a pair of heels in her wardrobe on the ready as there will always be an event (wedding, graduation, birthday etc) where you will be required to dress more formally.
It is always best to have basic heels ready just to prevent the stress of buying a new outfit and having no shoes to wear with it.
The heel height may vary depending on what you are comfortable with and what you are able to walk in. But I would say don’t sell yourself too short and practice walking in heels.
The width of your heel can make it easier to walk in your heels but don’t just stick with block or stilettos heels, have a balance of each width.
Closed toe heels

Court heels are excellent for when you don’t want to show off your toes or it is the winter/colder seasons and wearing open toe heels is a death trap or in an environment where you are prohibited to show your toes (work etc.).
This shoe is a staple and should be in every wardrobe, it will not go out style due to its classic and elegant appearance.
You should purchase these in the following colours gold, silver, black, beige and grab a pair of clear colour or a colour that closely resembles your skin tone. Once you’ve got the basic colours then start experimenting and try different colour ways.
Open toe heels

Sandal heels are the perfect way to show off your pedicure and outfit. This is perfect for spring and summer when the weather is a lot warmer than winter.
This style of heel will never go out of style and is a staple to have in every wardrobe. It is a classic and chic. The openness of the shoe helps to elongate the legs.
The colours in which you should purchase these are gold, silver, black and clear or in colour that resembles your skin tone.
Mules

These are not a necessity, but they are so cute and are my all-time favourites especially if they have a kitten esk heel.
They are so comfortable yet chic that you can wear them more frequently than your other heels. They help to elongate your legs due to their lack of straps that heels of this nature usually have (sandal heels).
These heels can easily become an every day heel due to the comfortability.
Boots

Heeled or platformed boots are an essential for every wardrobe. You don’t need these in every colour but I recommended owning a pair in a colour that you are most likely to get the most wear out of.
The boot can be an ankle boot, over-the-knee boot or even a knee high boot. This helps to elevate your outfits from day to night. If styled correctly it can help to elongate your legs, an example of this is if you wear a pointed ankle boot with full length trouser of the same colour as the boot your legs look longer.
2. Flats
This section will include a variety of your everyday shoes, from sandles to runners to loafers etc.
Sandles

These shoes are best for summer or spring seasons for when the weather is a lot warmer, and you do not desire to wear full coverage shoes. You should get these in the basic colours so that they may go well with many of your outfits.
Sandals vary you can purchase slightly heeled sandals, strapped sandals or no strap sandals. Go to a store and have a look at which sandals look nice on your feet and match your style.
The basic colours include black, white, brown or beige (depending on your skin tone), gold or even silver.
Runners/trainers

These are a great pair of shoes especially if you go to the gym or if you live in an area that requires this type of footwear or if you are a hype beast and runners are your aesthetic. Everyone should own at least one pair of runners in their wardrobe.
Runners can range from athletic type of runners and more classic/dressed up type of runners.
A more dressed up shoe may be a leather (pleather) shoe in one colour (black or white) that looks less like a trainer and more put together type of shoe that you can wear when you are going somewhere fancy or somewhere like work etc.
Loafers

My all-time favourites! these can elevate any style and they can be dressed up or down depending on your style.
These come in variety of styles either you get a plain pair (all black/all one colour), or they can have a gold or silver buckle that makes it look more elevated,
You can also purchase a chunky pair which is more modern and trendier or a flat pair or you can purchase one without a back.
Ballerinas

I am glad that ballet flats are back in style as they look so cute and chic. They can make any outfit look sleeker and more feminine. It can be styled with trousers, skirts and dresses.
If you don’t want to wear loafers everyday than I would recommend experimenting with ballerinas.
Purchase ballerinas in a basic colours such as black, brown, white, beige, silver etc. so that they can seamlessly go with your outfits.
Boots

As I mentioned earlier boots are an essential in every wardrobe especially in the colder seasons. Boots without a heel can be worn more frequently since they are more comfortable then their counterparts.
These include riding style boots, knee high boots, ankle boots and over-the-knee boots. These can be styled in many ways.
I recommended purchasing it in a colour that you know you will receive the most wear out of.
