How To Get Soft And Glowy Skin

BEAUTY

Welcome back Readers,

Today’s topic will be on skincare and how to get soft and glowy skin.

Now before we delve deep into some steps that you can partake in to achieve soft and glowy skin. I want yo know that your skin type and genetics has a lot to do with the way that your skin looks. It is best to go to a dermatologist and find out from a professional what steps you should take to achieve nice healthy, soft and glowy skin. They will grant you with a more personalised routine for your skin.

Having a weekly skincare routine is detrimental to achieving soft and glowy skin. Here are some of the steps which you should include in your skincare routine.

1. Exfoliating your skin or dry brushing

This is highly important as exfoliating or dry brushing your skin helps to remove the dead and old cells from your skin. Which will allow your skin to appear brighter and softer. Make sure to not over exfoliate your skin as it can cause damage to its layer in the long run.

I would recommend exfoliating a maximum of 2-3 times a week and to give your skin a minimum of one day’s rest in between. After a month you should notice a difference in your skin.

It all depends on the type of exfoliate that you use, if it is a soft one designed for sensitive skin you can use it more frequently (read instructions), if it is a more rough one for normal skin I would recommend (read instructions) a 2- 3 days a week maximum.

2. Cleansing your face

This makes all the difference in your skin, especially in your face as just washing your face with water and soap doesn’t properly cleanse your face the way that it needs to. Dirt which is not visible to the naked eye may still be trapped in your skin and this may be the/a reason why the skin on your face is not clear.

Wash your face with soap and water and then after applying a facial cleanser to remove any further dirt trapped in your skin. You should notice a difference in your skin after at least a month of using.

3. Oil

Applying oil-based lotion will help you to achieve glowy looking skin. The types of lotion that you use may be the reason why your skin may look dull even after following all these steps.

I find oils make your skin appear more dewy and healthy. Don’t excessively apply oil onto your skin as you may appear sweaty instead of dewy.

It is important to find and use a lotion/cream that suits your skin best but if you notice that you don’t have that dewy look then apply a little bit of oil on top of your cream/lotion once it has set into your skin.

4. Drink water

Your body is made up of 60% of water, hydration is important. Drinking water and staying hydrated is an extremely important step in having healthy and glowy looking skin.

I do not need to say anymore.

5. Hair removal (shaving, waxing or laser hair removal)

Removing the hair from your skin can make your skin appear clearer and more glowy. It can also allow products to penetrate your skin better.

But if you are one of those girls who are against shaving then by all means don’t but at least trim the hairs on your skin.

6. Change your towels and bedsheets regularly

You should change and wash them at least once a week, as these items are magnets for dead skin cells, bacteria and dirt. Since we use these daily and regularly these easily begin to build up and if they are not changed you will notice the effect on your skin.

Your skin will be more prone to spots, pimples and blemishes etc. and the dirt removed from showering is replaced back on again.

Reminder to always hang up your towels after each use up so that the moisture can dry up. if the moisture is not dried up then it’ll cause bacteria to grow at a quicker rate on your towel.

7. Sunscreen

This is extremely important, and it makes a difference. Please all my melanated ladies this also applies to you. Sunscreen protects your skin from the dangerous sunrays, and I don’t know what it is, but sunscreen always makes my skin look extra glowy.

Apply sunscreen in the summer and in the winter, when it is sunny and when it is cloudy/raining. Just because the sight of the sun is not visible does not mean that it’s not there.

Take all of these steps with a grain of salt. Please visit a dermatologist to find out what is best for your skin.
