Top 5 Self-Help Books To Read

LIFESTYLE

Welcome back Readers,

Todays post will be all about personal growth and development. Personal growth and development is an extremely important part of the human experience but how you grow and develop as a person is something to be aware of.

The best way to improve yourself is through gaining more knowledge on your habits, strengthens, flaws and traits. Then putting in the work daily to put this new information into place.

This year I set up a goal to read more books to improve myself and put in the work and become more self aware, based on some of the books that I’ve read so far these are my top 5.

1. The Atomic Habits by James Clear

This book was an eye opener for me as I was able to identify the habits that I was doing and entertaining that kept me stuck in the position.

It also thought me how I can overcome these habits and how to put new ones in place.

2. The Subtle Art of Not Giving A f* by Mark Manson

This book was the first I read and finished this year, and it was well needed. This book is for my fellow people pleasers and overthinkers.

You don’t realise how much overthinking and excessive people pleasing can prevents you from getting and achieving the things that you need to do in life.

It highlights the importance of not hyper focusing on others opinions and expectations for your life but to pursue what you want. It’s not to say that you shouldn’t heed other peoples advice and guidance for your life but that your self worth and assurance shouldn’t be based solely on how you are perceived by others and what they want for your life.

3. Outliers by Malcom Gladwell

This book was another eye opener. It thought me about the things that are in my control and the things that aren’t. The importance of ceasing the times and the seasons which I am in.

This book delves into the stories of a number of successful or unsuccessful people within history. How the times, seasons, skills and their social standing in society either prevented them from being successful or were the instruments to their success.

4. The Holy Bible

Of course, as a girl in Christ I am going to mention the book that has been my back bone in life and that has been instrumental to many aspects of my life. It has helped me to discover more about myself, my purpose and gain a better understanding about life.

Ladies who are also in faith, this book should be your guide in life and order your steps.

5. The Courage to Be Disliked by Ichiro Kishimi & Fumitake Koga

I haven’t yet read this book but it is in my list of books to read in 2024.

This book highlights how to let go of the belief that your past determines your future. Why hyper focusing on what’s wrong with you will lead you to look for any reason or means to hate yourself.

As a people pleaser the thought of being disliked by others can be destabilising. The more you delve deep into the book it teaches you that being disliked and not being recognised by others should not affect how you feel and treat yourself.

*Bonus book*

For those that have read it to the end here is a bonus book for you to read.

6. The Psychology of Money: by Morgan Housel

I have not read this book yet but it is on my list of 2024 book reads.

This book delves deeply into how money moves around in the economy, how our emotions and the way we think about money reflects our ability or inability to make money.

It also includes lessons that will help to change the way in which we do think and handle money.
